Stephen Ministry

Since the days of the Apostles, caring ministry has been a hallmark of the Christian faith community.  Stephen, in fact, is mentioned in the book of Acts as one of seven men in the early church known to be full of faith and wisdom to be appointed by the Apostles to distribute food to poorer members of the community.

Recognizing that at some points in life everyone faces periods of crisis, transition, or difficulty, Stephen Ministry at New Hope exists for the purpose of being a conduit of God’s comfort, hope, and truth in ministering to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people within the church family and community.  Reasons for requesting the services of a Stephen Minister may range from grieving the loss of a loved one to experiencing a major illness, going through a divorce, job loss, struggling with substance abuse, or other life difficulty.

Those serving as Stephen Ministers are supervised and have been carefully selected and equipped through over 50 hours of training to provide confidential, Christ-centered care on a one-on-one basis.  Typically this care is provided through weekly visits that are approximately one (1) hour in length and continue for as long as the care is needed and effective.

If you or someone else you know may benefit from the services of a Stephen Minister, contact one of the church’s pastors or Stephen Leaders.  You may also click on the link below.  Our vision for Stephen Ministry at New Hope is “to follow Christ’s example in providing compassionate, skilled care to people who are in need”.
